How to Make Wedding Arch Decor with Flower Garlands
When you walk down the aisle, your partner will be waiting for you at your wedding arch. The flowers and greenery that adorn your wedding arch can set the tone for this special moment–and for your entire ceremony. And if you want to elevate your wedding arch decor, there’s no better way than to make it yourself.
Today, we’re here to show you how to make beautiful wedding arch decor using Ling’s Moment flowers and greenery garlands. Since our flowers and greenery don’t fade or wilt, you can prepare your arch decor ahead of time and have it ready for your big day. This design would also make a wonderful photo backdrop for bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, or your wedding reception.
What you’ll need to DIY a floral wedding arch garland:
To create this DIY wedding arch decor, you’ll need:
- 1 Eucalyptus and Willow Leaf Greenery Garland - 6.5 fit long
- 8 Nylon Cable Ties
- 1 Wooden Wedding Arch
- Wire cutters
- Hot glue gun
- Your Creative Spirit
The wedding arch we used has a flat top, though this design will also work on arches with a slight curve. Our arch is 6ft wide. For larger arches, you might need a larger quantity of greenery and flower box sets.
Our designer box sets feature a unique blend of flower types in a cohesive color palette, like blush and cream, or sunset terracotta. We chose a deluxe dusty blue flower box set for our design. But you can customize your design with any color palette. You could also supplement your arch decor with other Ling’s artificial wedding flowers, like roses or dahlias.
It’s your wedding arch, so feel free to customize it to your heart’s content.
How to make a DIY wedding arch garland:
Step 1: Attach the greenery garland
Let’s start by attaching the eucalyptus garland to the arch. Use the nylon cable ties to attach the garland at each end and in the middle.
Trim the excess away with your wire cutters to keep it out of sight.
Step 2: Create the vine drapery
Using your hot glue gun, add a drop of glue to the end of a rose leaf vine. Then attach the vine to the plastic joints on the greenery garland.
Bend the vines slightly to create a more realistic look, as if the vines are growing out of the garland.
Tip: The rose leaf vines all come in the same length, but you can trim some of them to create varying lengths. Try to place the longer vines towards the edges of the arch, while keeping the shorter pieces towards the middle to create interest.
Step 3: Add flowers
Now for the fun part–adding color to your arch decor with flowers!
Take your designer flower box set and insert flowers into the gaps between the greenery garland and the arch. Use the flower’s wire stems to tie them to the arch.
Add flowers onto the arch one after another, until you’ve used your whole box. Then, move onto another box and repeat. Keep going until you’ve covered the whole arch with flowers!
This is your opportunity to express your creativity with a unique arrangement. Try to alternate between different types and colors of flowers, this will add dimension and interest while keeping the overall design in mind. There’s no wrong way to do it, so follow your creative instincts.
Tip: Save your smallest flowers and the special greenery pieces for the final step.
Step 4: Add details
We’re nearly done! Now, it’s time to add some finishing touches.
Take the smallest flowers from the box set and tie them to the hanging vines. You can use the wire stems to attach them without any extra ties.
Next, take the leaf accessories from your designer flower box sets, and attach them to the arch at both the top and bottom.
Tip: Try to concentrate them at the edges to draw attention toward the center of the arch. When you and your partner stand in the middle, your guests' eyes will be captivated by the two of you
